Namaste whanau and caregivers,
WOW !!! What a busy last week we had as we get to learn two beautiful languages in class. I feel so blessed to be a part of Rowandale Whanua where everyone demonstrates participation, respect, and empathy towards other cultures. It was amazing how my class showed an interest, participation, respect, and empathy in learning Hindi. I had taught them how to count in the range of 1-10 in hindi.
Please check out the video below to see how much they had enjoyed learning :
During the week, we coloured in Rangoli Patterns by following the numbers using felt tips, crayons, and jovis to create colourful traditional patterns. A rangoli is a colourful design made on the floor near the entrance to a house to welcome guests. At Diwali, Hindus draw bright Rangoli patterns to encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes.
- Rangoli patterns are traditionally drawn with the fingers using flour, rice grains or coloured chalk.
- Rangoli can be square, rectangular or circular – or a mix of all three. They are often symmetrical. Rangoli motifs are usually taken from Nature - peacocks, swans, mango, flowers and so on

On Friday, our school's one of the best relievers Mrs. A showed us how to create Diwali diyas by getting involved in some beautiful crafting. Take a look at these diyas and let us know in the comment box how cool they are:
This is how our office was reflecting Indian culture.
