Indian Language Week Celebration in class

Namaste whanau and caregivers,

WOW !!! What a busy last week we had as we get to learn two beautiful languages in class. I feel so blessed to be a part of Rowandale Whanua where everyone demonstrates participation, respect, and empathy towards other cultures. It was amazing how my class showed an interest, participation, respect, and empathy in learning Hindi. I had taught them how to count in the range of 1-10 in hindi.

Please check out the video below to see how much they had enjoyed learning :

During the week, we coloured in Rangoli Patterns by following the numbers using felt tips, crayons, and jovis to create colourful traditional patterns. A rangoli is a colourful design made on the floor near the entrance to a house to welcome guests. At Diwali, Hindus draw bright Rangoli patterns to encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes.

  • Rangoli patterns are traditionally drawn with the fingers using flour, rice grains or coloured chalk.
  • Rangoli can be square, rectangular or circular – or a mix of all three. They are often symmetrical. Rangoli motifs are usually taken from Nature - peacocks, swans, mango, flowers and so on
Enjoy the pictures please:

On Friday, our school's one of the best relievers Mrs. A showed us how to create Diwali diyas by getting involved in some beautiful crafting. Take a look at these diyas and let us know in the comment box how cool they are:

This is how our office was reflecting Indian culture.

Niuean Language Week Challenge - Niuean National Anthem

This week we've been learning & practicing Niuean's National Anthem to pronounce the words properly by watching that on the Youtube first and then by looking at the lyrics only. Mr. Ikutule had given us the challenge to sing it beautifully. Here's our video singing along with the music and the lyrics from the paper. Great efforts # Dedicated Dragons #

Holidays Homework Reminder

Kia Orana to our Whanau and Caregivers,

WRITING - This is just a humble reminder for our Dedicated Dragons' families as they had received Holidays Homework from Mrs. Kaur which is to complete 5 different writing stories on the given paper about their family experiences such as trips to the beach, park, Pak 'n' Save, Countdown, New World, friends/cousins birthday parties, sleepover at their Grandparents/cousins home, etc.

High-Frequency Words according to their Reading Levels - Keep learning your high-frequency words as they will help you a lot while reading books either with the teacher or independently.

Essential Spelling List words -   Also, keep memorising the spellings from the list in your spelling books too. As they will help you during writing and reading.

Remember to bring all the homework back to Mrs. Kaur for her to check i.e. your written stories, high-frequency words on the coloured paper, and last but not the least the spelling books as well. Enjoy your holidays with a bit of learning too. 👍 😀  😃

REMINDER TO VISIT THE LOCAL LIBRARIES - Remember Mrs. Kaur also told to try to visit the local Auckland Libraries to read a range of books. Whanau please encourage your children to read at home. Try and make reading fun and enjoyable. If kids get stuck, remind them to think about what he/she can use to help him/her. You can also talk about what happened in the story.
