Week 6 Swimming - Blowing Bubbles & Kicking

Last week on Wednesday, we revised our learning intention from the last swimming class how to enter and exit the pool safely. Then we focussed on our next swimming skill - blowing bubbles and kicking using the flutter boards. Mrs. Kaur asked us it's not at all hard we all can do it. First, we need to deep breathe in and put the head in the water to blow bubbles and then come out quickly.

We had also learnt how to kick using the flutter board. First, we held the bar to practice kicking and made sure our legs are straight. Later on, we used the boards to go the other side of the pool by kicking. Check out the pictures and a video below and hope you'll enjoy them.

FMS - New Skill High Jump

This week on Wednesday, we learnt another new skill from Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS). To begin with, the Coaches had planned our warm-up game first that was - What's the time Mr. Wolf as to play this game jumping skill is required.

After this game, then the coaches showed us how to do the high jump without letting our legs touch the bar. We were really excited to try this out. Please check out our pictures and a video and do let us know by commenting 'how well did we do'?

Thank you, Whanau for always viewing and commenting on our Blog. We really appreciate it. 👍👍👍👍👍

FMS - By Mrs. Kaur

Kia Ora Whanau & Caregivers,

Every Wednesday, Our Dedicated Dragons are always excited to participate and learn new games along with a new skill. But this week on Wednesday, when they heard the bad news about the cancellation of FMS class due to coaches being sick that made them feel sad. To make us happy Mrs Kaur decided to take us and revise some of the games along with the skill we've learnt over the time with FMS this year. We were extremely happy to hear this good news because we just love sports. So these are the games we played such as - What's the time Mr Wolf skill - JUMPING; River Bank skill - JUMPING; Paper Scissors Rock skill - SKIPPING etc.

Below are their pictures of us enjoying with full zeal:

Shared Book Response - "I am the Music Man" Integration of Music & Numbers

Kia Ora Whanau,

I always feel delightful to share the learning experiences our tamariki/children learn at school or in classrooms with our Whanau/families. This week's shared book was - "I am the Music Man" and we all had practiced singing the beautiful songs from the book. We had also explored a range of musical instruments where we identified them first using our prior knowledge. The illustrator of the book - Debra Potter has used 6 different types of instruments in the book and they are - Piano, Saxophone, Big Bass drum, Xylophone, Violin & Trombone. Everyone joined in by using several types of musical instruments together in making the music man a fun and a joyful musical experience in Room 8. All children loved these traditional rhyme and singing along also helped them to develop number skills. Below is the picture of the front cover:

We had also discussed everyone has a different hobby or passion that they love to carry on or would love to learn in future such as learning any musical instrument, gymnastics, or learning any self-defense skills - Judo, Taekwondo, and Karate.

Below are our pictures and a video showing our participation in class by singing along with Mrs. Kaur and we hope everyone will love to watch us.

Here's the youtube link for this book if you would like to read with your child again and again which is linked with literacy programme.
