Measurement - Learning about Area & Length

Kia Ora Whanau,

Last week on Friday, our dragons developed an awareness of length and area. We've been using words like long, short, tall, big and small to describe objects. Every Friday we explore different hands-on activities to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the measurement concepts.

We were asked to grab some connecting cubes with our two hands. Then we made and traced our own buildings with the doors and windows on the paper. Through this activity, our Learning Outcome was to 1. use materials to compare large and small areas 2. use materials to make a long or short construction. Then we talked about whose building is the biggest and smallest and why.

Let's have a look at our photos and the videos below:

It was a wonderful lesson where we learned about how to compare the sizes of the building using the vocabulory like the biggest or smallest. Also, we looked at how many blocks someone used to build their own building as that's also related to examine how bigger or smaller the building is. Great Work was done by Dedicated Dragons!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
